Dismiss UV rays for COVID-19? These American innovators say "Not so fast"
Ultraviolet light technology (UVC at 254nm) has been used for decades to sanitize spaces like operating rooms and public transit, but exposure can be hazardous to human health. New patented Far-UV technology is safe and more effective.

NEW HAMPSHIRE – An American innovation and manufacturing company, Far-UV Sterilray™ LLC, is exclusively licensed to use nine global patents on ground-breaking Far-UV technology, safe for humans (Pending FDA EUA authorization), that can help get the United States of America back up and working.

As many of us already know UVC (254nm), or traditional ultraviolet light, is currently used to sterilize spaces such as operating rooms. China and Russia also utilize it to sterilize public transit. UVC’s use in stopping COVID-19 is limited in part because of its hazardous potential to humans. What this American company has done that is novel is — they have invented a safe way to use a different wavelength (222nm) identified as Far-UV (AKA, Far-UVC, and Excimer Wave Sterilray™) in public places and spaces that are not harmful to humans. In addition to studies confirming its safety for human exposure including those done by Columbia University, Far-UV is 10,000 times more effective at killing pathogens than UVC.

“We feel our technology can empower small businesses and large employers to safely open again,” said CTO Ed Neister, “Research has proven our Excimer Wave Sterilray™ (Far-UV patented technology products) effectively kills viruses and pathogens in a safe way for humans (pending final FDA approval). We’ve shown we can destroy coronaviruses in the air, and on surfaces. We believe that, in near real-time, that you will see our Far-UV technology used in lamps on public transit, in offices, public spaces, stadiums, airplanes, warehouses, factories, businesses, restaurants, food packaging plants, HVAC systems and more – killing viruses and making our world safer.”

There is a lot of misinformation out there about the use of UV on humans. Far-UV does not penetrate the epidermis of human skin, making it possible to disinfect an environment while people are present. Because Far-UV actually explodes pathogens, rather than just weakening them by altering the DNA, as with UVC, Far-UV is a much better option to stop the spread of COVID-19 and future pandemics. The use of UVC in HVAC units kills less than 1% of pathogens in a single pass, but the patented Excimer Wave Sterilray™ technology destroys 99.99% in a single pass of the air current by the lamp.

Third party lab reports show Excimer Wave Sterilray™ (Far-UV Sterilrays™ product line) is the first and only dry, chemical free, disinfection technology that can kill C.diff spores in seconds. In fact, the Excimer Wave Sterilray™ technology now makes it possible to quickly and conveniently disinfect all types of surfaces and floors.

Using Far-UV technology, can kill viruses in as little as 1/10 second. All other methods, including liquid and steam cleaners, require far more time, and without the same level of effectiveness.
