Soulless in Seattle  -  Another Immigrant Owned Restaurant Hangs in the Balance

June 26 22:31 2019

June 16th the beloved owner of Saba Ethiopian Cuisine of 18 years was served with the intent to evict papers from the lawyers of the new property owner, Centric Partners LLC.

Months prior, the same company, Centric Partners LLC, collectively owned by Alchemy Real Estate and North West Builders Finance (NWBF) stated they would relocate the locally famous family business who has contributed to the community for close to 20 years.

Jason “Jay” Miller of Alchemy Real Estate and Centric Partners LLC (also owned by Harry Nayyar), after pleading, met with the owner and daughter and began the relocation process in exchange that the petition stopped.

But when the time came to fund the relocation, Jason “Jay” Miller of Alchemy Real Estate disappeared. No one would respond then the building was sold.

A new management company, Cascade, representing the new owner, Centric Partner LLC, came to collect rent and proceeded to “assist” her again with relocating then also withdrew contact.

“We have been removed from any management with you and have been asked not to communicate.” — Tammy, Cascade

Now, Saba Ethiopian Cuisine faces an eviction like most commercial or residential tenants in the now Soulless Seattle.

Over 5 years, the owner of Saba, had to also fight with the original owner. Her previous owner, Lu Luc, was also going to evict her because it is “cheaper” to find loophole in her lease than to relocate her. His daughter Mai Luc who once represented him as management, also withdrew contact once the property was going to be sold. To add insult to injury they had their lawyers respond to her with a cease or desist demanding to “stop harassing them” after trying to contact them twice.

This is the ongoing struggle and current climate of the now “Gentrified” Soulless Seattle.

Our voice, our story matters even if we cannot legally hold Jason “Jay” Miller of Alchemy Real Estate, Harry Nayyar of Centric Partners, LLC accountable or Lu and Mai Luc, we use our voice to inspire change.
